Let’s Make Sustainability a Matter of Fact in Media Tech

Earlier this week, I participated on a webinar hosted by Neil Howman at 202 Communications on the LIVE! Platform.  Along with Jason Thibault from the Streaming Video Alliance, we talked about the notion of sustainability in media tech, and more specifically in streaming.

What is the state of sustainability today?  Well, as you’ve read from me already, the state of sustainability really depends on the company, which says a lot.  What I mean by that is that our industry does not take sustainability seriously yet.  Sure, if you’re a large public company with investors, you are saying something about sustainability on your website and you may actually be doing some work say in “green” productions.  And that’s great and a good start.  But if you’re not a public company, where’s the incentive to include sustainability in your business?

The fact is that many organizations are still not thinking about sustainability as an integral part of their business.  The topic is still very much an after-thought as organizations roll out sophisticated strategic plans.  And that’s a problem that I hope to address with the roll-out of projects later this quarter.

Let’s get sustainability into your strategic plans from the outset!  No more after thoughts.
