Starting a sustainability journey follows a similar pathway. You've got to set a baseline measurement and craft your strategy around it. My recommendation is to kick things off with a basic assessment that looks at tackling carbon emission segments and strategies for mitigation. Undergoing this baseline review not only familiarizes you with the key data points, it also illuminates where you may have gaps.

Sustainability regulations are rolling out across the world. Media tech enterprises will need to be ready. Start by doing an internal assessment and go from there.

Visiting Norway, I learned how this Scandinavian country transforms oil into sustainability green.

Moving to a circular economy is an important part of a sustainability path. It means repurposing products on purpose, limiting unnecessary waste into the ecosystem.

I was in San Diego to attend the Fujifilm Global IT Executive Summit where I learned that we are in the Zettabyte Era of data. With the explosion of data being generated every day, we need to be smart about how we store, manage, and use it.

Even within the community, there are examples of how the residents care.

The Portland Community Bike Center, a non-profit program “helps build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected. We believe that all Portlanders—regardless of income or background—should have the opportunity to experience the joy, freedom, and health benefits of bicycling.”

A great example of how all levels of the community are part of the overarching sustainability goal for Portland.

In 2012, Sony unveiled “the Rainbow” a public art installation by the American scultor, Tony Tassett. It has become an icon of the studio, welcoming visitors as well being a happy symbol for those working on the lot.

Buying a battery-operated lawnmower is the another step in our journey to bringing more sustainability into our home. We don’t have an electric vehicle (yet). When it came to replacing my solid Sears Craftsman, we opted to buy this model. I am happy with it.

My brother, the friend of coal, wants to recycle carbon from coal-powered power plants. An idea that’s not new, but maybe now’s the time to bring it back as we (slowly) migrate to renewables.

Doing work for a trade association, I am learning what it takes to make government work for this cause. I am interested in applying what I learn in this space to my sustainability work.

Defining what sustainability means is critical in understanding how to make improvements. Sustainability is not just about the environment, but is the intersection of social, economic, and environmental concerns.

Attending the NAB Show 2022 was an amazing experience this year. Why? Because I went as an entrepreneur presenting myself as a leader in the sustainability discussion. It was a terrific 3 days!
